Adrian Bayford and his wife Gillian first made headlines back in 2012 when they won an incredible £148 million jackpot on the EuroMillions Lottery. The couple, who lived in Haverhill in Suffolk at the time where they were married, split up 15 months later. Since then the couple have been in the news quite often, and unlike previous jackpot winners, Colin and Christ Weirs, who are alwasys doing amazing deeds, when it comes to the Bayford's it’s usually for the wrong reasons. This time its Adrian’s turn...
The music loving EuroMillions jackpot winner has apparently suffered another setback in his love life with his fiancée, Sam Burbidge, doing a runner while he was visiting his ex-wife Gillian, and their two kids in Scotland.
The couple, who have been together for just over three years, hit a bumpy road in December when Sam moved out of the house and back to her mum in Essex.
It doesn’t look as though she will be back this time however as she left Adrian’s £6million home with all 30 thoroughbred horses that her EuroMillions winning lover bought her during their relationship. She also took a £60,000 car, a £100,000 horse box, and their dogs.
Mr Bayford, 46, found everything had gone when he returned to his home after spending a week with Gillian, and their two children aged ten and 12.
Mr Bayford, a former postman, met Miss Burbidge two months after he split from his wife (who now lives in a mansion in Dundee).
He invested in her passion for riding, building a £1.5million eventing arena, hiring stable staff and buying up to 30 thoroughbred horses.
But friends say he knows nothing about riding and doesn’t have a clue what to do with it all now that she has gone.
Mr Bayford is said to have stayed with his ex-wife in Scotland after the break-up and is more upset about losing the dogs, which his children played with, than the horses, according to a friend.
'No-one knows where Sam has gone right now. She has not even given proper reasons for the break-up other than she is not happy and hasn't been for a while,' a friend told The Sun.
Let’s hope everything turns out ok for Adrian in the end. Fate chose him to be a EuroMillions jackpot winner, so he can’t be that bad. He actually seems a decent guy with a big heart who gave a little too much to a girl he adored and ended up being taken to the cleaners. Fortunately, his jackpot was huge and he has enough to start over again. Horses for courses - different people are suited to different things I guess!
