52-year-old Trish Fairhurst has decided to call it quits and go on early retirement after her partner’s spectacular £76million EuroMillions lottery jackpot win three months ago.
Andrew Clark and his partner Trish won the life-changing sum of money in November last year.
At the time of the win, Trish told lottery officials that she had no intention to quit her job as a hospital kitchen worker with the NHS. The reason for her decision at the time was that she didn’t want to let her colleagues down.
However, now that the EuroMillions jackpot win has finally sunk in she has decided that life’s just too short and there’s more to working at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, Lincolnshire.
“I’ve handed my notice in, that’s all. I’ve decided to leave of my own accord,” said the lucky retiree.
Shortly after winning the massive EuroMillions jackpot, the couple splashed out on a modest £20,000 Nissan Qashqai for Trish.
However, it’s not just the jobs that have had a rethink, as the couple, just twelve weeks down the line, now own five supercars. Lined up in the couples brand new garage is a Ferrari worth £184,000 and a £70,000 Mercedes-AMG.
The lucky EuroMillions millionaires purchased a £700,000 home that boasts an indoor pool, home gym and two acres of private land.
From single mum to millionaire
Friends of Trish said that they couldn’t be happier for her, saying: “She was a single mum for a good while and she’s worked her socks off - so it’s no wonder she’s decided to call it a day.
“Trish and Andy have always loved their holidays and now she isn’t limited by her holiday allowance they’ll be able to go all over the place.”
“Fair play to her - she managed three months, which is longer than most people would have stuck it out.”
Andrew bought his winning EuroMillions lottery ticket on November 2 from the Eastwood Road Post Office close to the couple’s former home. At the time of the win, Andrew had absolutely no idea that his life had just underwent a complete and utter change. It was six weeks later that he only discovered the win when he came across the EuroMillions ticket stashed in the visor of his Peugeot Expert van.
He remembered that he had bought a ticket, but it was only when Trish’s niece Louise pestered him to check his tickets that he went to his car to find it.
Naturally, he was shocked to discover he had matched all five numbers in the EuroMillions draw 5, 15, 17, 37, and 44, as well as the Lucky Stars 7 and 11.
It’s no wonder that the couple purchased a few sports cars, as Andrew used to be an F1 engineer. After winning the £76 million EuroMillions jackpot he made his dreams come true buying supercars despite living 40-miles from the nearest motorway. In fact, he lives 20-miles from the nearest 70mph limit.
Families in the area joked around saying they are already fed up of the super-rich petrol-head parading his flash cars on ‘John Adams Way’, in Boston, Lincolnshire. Looks like the ex-F1 worker Andy will have to find another road to get his cars up to any kind of speed.
Of course, he could always use an F1 track with his connections to the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
