A lucky EuroMillions lottery ticket worth almost €45,000 was sold at the WH Smith store in Terminal One in Dublin.
A National Lottery spokesperson is urging EuroMillions lottery players on holiday to Dublin to double check their suitcases, luggage and wallets to see if they purchased the winning EuroMillions lottery ticket while at the airport.
The lucky EuroMillions lottery ticket is worth almost €45,000.
The lucky euro lotto ticket holder has matched 5 numbers and came agonisingly close to scooping the €44million jackpot. Unfortunately, they never matched the two lucky star numbers.
According to the EuroMillions lottery, it’s not the first time the WH Smith store in the airport has been lucky, as they sold a EuroMillions lottery ticket last year that scooped €5.4million on Christmas Eve.
The National Lottery spokesperson also reminded players who are going on holiday using the airport to play in advance to ensure that they do not miss out on big jackpots.
They said: “What a perfect start to the holidays!
“The WH Smith shop at Terminal 1 is fast becoming one of our lucky Lottery stores with holidaymakers hoping to scoop a top prize before they jet off.”
Chief Executive of the National Lottery, Dermot Griffin said: “We are at the height of holiday season so it’s incredibly likely that the winning ticket holder is currently lying on a beach somewhere and may be unaware that they have a lottery ticket worth almost €45,000 in their suitcase!”
“We are obviously urging everybody to check their tickets but we are also appealing to people currently in Ireland to contact their loved ones abroad to ensure that they do not miss out on this prize.”
The winning numbers of the lucky Quick Pick ticket worth a cool €44,998 were 01, 12, 15, 29, 48.
