Lightning Really Does Strike Twice With These Irish EuroMillions Winners

The Irish are enjoying their fair share of EuroMillions lotto luck at the moment, with two tickets two tickets sold in neighbouring counties Mayo and Galway each scooped €500,000 in Friday’s EuroMillions Plus draw, and a €500,000 EuroMillions ticket from Dublin.

The sixth and seventh Irish EuroMillions Plus wins were sold in Castlebar, Co Mayo and in Barna, Co Galway. In July we saw the same store Garryduff XL Store on Pound Road in Castlebar sell the winning EuroMillions ticket worth €29 million. This time it once again experienced the fact that yes, “lightning really does strike twice,” with one of the recent winning EuroMillions tickets once again being purchased from this lucky euro lotto store.

Store co-owner Rosie Kumar said, “I would never have expected to have sold another significant EuroMillions winning ticket so soon after selling the winning ticket last summer,” she said.

“We are thrilled and we’ve been spreading the word to our customers today to check their tickets to see if it is them.”
Ms Kumar told the media that she and her husband moved to the Republic some 12 years ago from New Delhi in India.

The second winning ticket was sold 83 kilometres south of Castlebar, in Clarke’s SuperValu in Barna Village Centre, Seapoint, Barna, Co Galway.

The store manager, Leonard Fay, said: “The team in our shop are delighted and there is a great atmosphere in Barna this morning. I hope it is one of our regular shoppers but whoever it is, good luck to them.”

The National Lottery are currently asking EuroMillions lottery players who purchased tickets for the draw in the two counties to double check their EuroMillions tickets to see if they have the winning tickets.

“EuroMillions Plus continues to be lucky for Irish players and the fact that these wins are the sixth and seventh Plus wins of 2018 is proof,” said a spokesman.

“If you do happen to be one of those two lucky ticketholders, be sure to sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team on 01836 4444 and we will make arrangements for you to come to the National Lottery Winner’s Room to get your prize”.

With no one managing to correctly match all five main numbers and the two Lucky Star numbers to scoop the jackpot, it rolled over to a whopping €160 million for this Tuesday, February, 20, 2018.

With EuroMillions Superdraws generally starting off at €100 million and on occasion even €130 million, this Tuesday will see EuroMillions lottery enthusiasts making sure that they definitely buy a EuroMillions ticket online or at the local EuroMillions vendor.

EuroMillions lottery players will remember that a EuroMillions Superdraw was in fact on the cards for February, 23, but with the jackpot consistently rolling over like this, there might just be a lot more on offer now.

Another lucky Irish EuroMillions lottery player who won €500,000 recently, said he only discovered the winning EuroMillions ticket while cleaning out a drawer.

While spring cleaning a draw full of old EuroMillions lottery tickets, he thankfully actually double checked them this time.

“I would regularly buy my EuroMillions and Lotto tickets but I’m very guilty of never checking them. I came across a bundle of tickets on Thursday evening so I sat down to check them on the lottery website,” he said.

“I hadn’t a clue what was going on so I popped down to the local shop to check the ticket and I got the same message. I knew then that I had to have won a significant prize but I just didn’t expect it to be a half a million euro,” he said.

The lucky EuroMillions ticket that won the half a million euro was a Quickpick and was purchased in Dunnes Stores in Portmarnock, Co Dublin on January 26th, on the day of the draw.

“We had heard about the win in the town way back in January but we had absolutely no idea it was us. We had been back to Dunnes several times since but it never dawned on us to check our tickets,” he said.

The lucky EuroMillions lottery winner said that he will take his time before deciding what to do with the euro lotto winnings. He did however know that any decisions would be made with his young family in mind.

“It’s a massive a shock to the system, we didn’t know if we’d be picking up a €500 prize or a €100 million! We’re just glad that we have the cheque in our hand now so we’ll take some time out to process the win properly and we’ll make a nice plan for the future,” he said.
