Thanks to winning the EuroMillions on January 9th, a student paid off all his student loan debt.
Alex Best, a 21-year-old, like most students more than likely, had a dream to graduate debt free. Even though graduation day was still shadowed in a cloud of debt, thanks to playing the EuroMillions lottery, he won just four months after receiving his music degree. Even though he didn’t match any numbers in the draw, his lucky EuroMillions lottery ticket was a millionaire raffle winner, which guarantees him the £1 million win.
“Every student has money worries, working from pay cheque to pay cheque, so it’s just amazing to know I never have to worry again,” said Alex Best.
Alex told lottery officials that he was going about his daily routine on January 9 when he decided to buy a EuroMillions lottery ticket just hours before the cut-off time.
“I was just in the shop buying some last minute bits for dinner when I saw the draw advertised for that evening. “I only buy tickets when I remember to so there must have been someone looking out for me,” said Alex.
Music to his ears
The EuroMillions winner from Shildon in County Durham, England, who graduated from Bolton University paid off his student debt thanks to the £1 million. His degree in live event production will ensure that he has more than enough knowledge to get a job in live music events.
This latest EuroMillions winners definitely has music in his blood like another seriously huge EuroMillions winner by the name of Adrian Bayford who won a staggering £148.6 million back in 2012.
Adrian found out that the Cambridge Rock Festival might not be able to go ahead a few years back, so he stepped in and volunteered his enormous backyard to host the event. The reason that the festival was not held at Haggis Farm Polo Club in Barton, Cambs., was due to the fact that locals in the quiet rural location complained about the noise.
Not only was the venue at risk, but so too was finding sponsorship for the event. Thanks to Adrian Bayford and his love for music, the festival went ahead. Not only did the EuroMillions winner offer up his estate, he also made the event free of charge!
Since graduating, Alex Best has been working as a part-time barman in a nightclub. He told EuroMillions lottery officials when collecting his amazing euro lotto win, that he almost passed out in Sainsbury’s when he found out that his EuroMillions ticket was worth £1 million.
He said that his EuroMillions lottery win will most definitely help him kickstart his career and that he hopes to start working for big tours and festivals, such as Glastonbury.
Buying an Aston Martin thanks to EuroMillions win
He also has plans to buy an Aston Martin as his first car, that is, once he has passed his driving test.
“I have had my eyes on a few cars – I could even buy an Aston Martin. How many graduates can say their first car was an Aston Martin?” he said.
“This win is going to completely transform my life and those around me. It’s already shaping up to be the best year yet.”
