With this Friday’s €177 million EuroMillions jackpot on everyone’s mind, it’s no wonder that so many people are making sure that they too buy a EuroMillions lottery ticket. A lucky EuroMillions lottery syndicate from Bere Island are thanking their lucky stars that they did, and island locals are revelling in the publicity that they are currently receiving due to the large lottery win.
The island, off the Cork coast in Ireland has definitely had its share of excitement and attention with a film crew arriving to find the EuroMillions lottery syndicate who bagged the €500,000 prize.
The syndicate however opted to remain anonymous, so its total speculation as to who on the lucky island managed to scoop the amazing prize for the September 19 draw. In saying so, we wonder just how successful this will be, as there are only 180 residents on the island.
The winning EuroMillions syndicate did however say, “It's been an absolutely crazy week" and also said that the win was "the worst-kept secret on the island".
According the syndicate, they plan to have a massive party when returning to Bere Island.
The EuroMillions syndicate leader said that they were shocked at just how much attention the island received about the win.
"We have a wonderful community spirit on the island and our win will allow us to make some very positive changes there in the coming months,” said their syndicate leader.
According to the leader, the group have bought EuroMillions tickets for several years and socialise together on the island.
The postmistress on the island, who sold the winning EuroMillions ticket to the lucky syndicate, said that the post office only started selling EuroMillions lottery tickets in October last year.
She also went on to say, "There is huge excitement... it's been an amazing week. We've never had anything like it here. Sky News are here now... I've had people on to me from Canada and Scotland, I've gone all over the world!"
"It's been unbelievable, I can't describe it. We've never had anything like it here before in my life." Just imagine what it’d be like if they won Friday’s massive EuroMillions jackpot.
